Beowulf

"Then the king in his great-heartedness unclasped the collar of gold from his neck and gave it to the young thane, telling him to use it and war-shirt and glided helmet well. "You are the last of us, the only one left of the waegmundings. fate swept us away, sent my whole brave highborn clan to their final dome. Now I must follow them". That was the warriors last word. He had no more to confide. The furious heat of the pyre would assail him. His soul fled from his breast to its destined place among the steadfast ones. After this deadly battle with the dragon this king, this hero as he had done in all his battles went out in true class. These are stories of true heroism and can be used as a rallying call for those who go into battle. I am fascinated with Beowulf because he reminds me of those heroes before us in which their stories or journeys were use to motivate me as a young Marine. Stories like this can be used when things really look bad and the need for reassurance is required, everybody love a brave hero. Beowulf was full of action and at times very motivating, like a John Wayne today.
